sequences interspersed between musical numbers. "Find Him Faithful"
included minor dramatic sequences between the musical numbers.

The Gift Goes On, was our 2005 Christmas musical
to ring in the season of giving. The musical was an anthology of Christmas music and centred
on the essence and substance of a gift as well as the giver. The Gift Goes On was be staged
at 8.30pm on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December 2005 at St Peter's Church, Bangsar, Kuala
Lumpur and held as a benefit concert for St Nicholas Home, Penang. Press conferences for the
production were organised both in Kuala Lumur and Penang. The musical bestowed a few traditional
carols to usher in the season, then forged ahead with fresh and recent Christmas compositions
and arrangements in the form of solos, duets, trios and choral works by contemporary composers
such as Michael W Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Amy Grant, Tony Guerroro and others. The
repertoire offered a bouquet of soulful and contemplative moments, spirited and high energy
numbers, nostalgic melodies, inspiring duets and rousing anthems. Hot favourites of this musical
include the dulcet accapella strains of The First Noel and Oh Holy Night; a rhythmic Little
Drummer Boy juxtaposed with the chorus of Bearing Gifts in regal manner; the expressive and
moving duets of Breath of Heaven and The Prayer and the majestic anthems of The Christmas
Gloria Medley and Light of the Stable. As an encore, the chorus rendered the majestic Hallelujah
Chorus with the audience rising from their seats during the opening strains. It was an evening
of splendid Christmas music and we were honoured and priviledged to have the following dignitaries
present: YB Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Lim Cheng Ean; YB Dato' Dr Ng Yen Yen, Deputy Minister of Finance I;
His Excellency Dr Abraham Sokhaya Nkomo, South African High Commissioner to Malaysia and a few
members of the diplomatic corps.

The Season of Light was conceived as an advent
musical celebrating the timeless Christmas message, illuminating a world that is still much shrouded
in darkness. The musical was staged on Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th December 2004 at The First
Baptist Church, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The musical was an eclectic blend of warm and nostalgic
moments and high-energy celebration songs in the form of contemporary arrangements and uplifting
anthems. The styles and varied arrangements provided opportunities for solos, duets, a trio; and
included medleys of some of the most-loved Christmas repertoire. Highlights include the soulful
strains and upbeat “Amen”, Handel’s pastorale “He Shall Feed His Flock” in the form of a contemporary
duet, Joseph’s moving lullaby of “Little Yeshua”, the ever vibrant “Everlasting Light” and
others. The audience sang along with some of the familiar Christmas anthems within this celebration
by candlelight. Net proceeds from the musical were were donated to MERCY Malaysia and CREST
Malaysia for tsunami relief work in Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, The Good Shepherd
Home for Girls, The Boys' Brigade and an orang asli community project.

Do You Hear The People Sing?
was inspired and drawn from a collection of the more elemental and spiritual songs from the earlier
musicals such as Carousel, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour
Dreamcoat; to the more recent arrivals such as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, The Rose of
Sharon, etc. as well as some other well loved numbers. The musical numbers were in the form of
solos, mixed vocal arrangements, choral numbers and medleys and seek to reassure, cheer, reflect,
impart endurance, comfort, encourage, conquer, strengthen, inspire, defend, convict, bring hope,
challenge, redeem, pacify, honour, celebrate, express love and bring restoration. The musical was
staged at Panggung Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur from Wednesday 4th August to Sunday 8th August 2004
with a total production run of 8 performances including the preview evening. The production involved
a cast and production crew of 105 and was the staging of production in a public performance venue
and also the first within the city of Kuala Lumpur. Guest artises in the production included Agnes
Yeow, Yudi and Tan Wei Han. The production benefitted Rumah Desitny, a home for underpriviledged
children as well as Praise Caring Home, which provides interim accommodation for cancer patients
seeking medical treatment in the Klang Valley area.

Make His Praise Glorious is one of the best
loved Christmas musicals. Although conceived in the late 1980s the musical remains as one of
the evergreen classics, offering rhythmic and exhilarating melodies, inspiring lyrics
sustained with rich orchestration. A morning and evening performance of the musical was
staged on Sunday 7 December 2003 for the benefit of City Disciple Presbyterian Church,
Subang Jaya and People’s Park Baptist Church respectively both of which drew packed houses.
This musical will always remain as one of our favourites because of the richness and
diversity in vocals and orchestration; beginning with the innocence of "Wonderful Things",
the foot tapping and hand-clapping black gospel feel of "Oh Happy Day and Go Tell it On the Mountain Medley",
the traditional carol medley ala congregation, to the driving energy of the Sandi Patti favourite
“Make His Praise Glorious” - the theme song which reverberates of Psalm 66:1-2; "Shout with joy to
God, all the earth! Sing the glory of His Name; make His praise glorious!". A few of the anthems
from this musical have become the mainstay of our touring repertoire.

The Rose of Sharon, a contemporary oratorio
for soloists, mixed voices, chorus and orchestra was staged on Saturday 24th and Sunday
25th May 2003 at The First Baptist Church, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The oratorio was
done in collaboration with Orkes Praise Malaysia, the country's only interdenominational
orchestra comprising mainly students, which gave a commendable performance. The oratorio
presented a rich diversity of Christian music composed over a period of three decades.
The concert drew an audience of about 1,500 and included His Excellency Dr Abraham Sokhaya
Nkomo, South African High Commissioner to Malaysia and Her Excellency Jean C. McCloskey,
High Commissioner for Canada.. Net proceeds of RM20,000 were channeled to The Zahida Perveen
Fund and The Shahnaz Bukhari Shelter in Pakistan. Zahida Perveen which was the focus of
National Geographic Television's documentary "Honour Killings" which documented Perveen's
story and those of other female victims of the ancient, barbaric tradition of so-called
"honour killings". The documentary by Michael Davie, National Geographic Producer and
Film Maker was aired over the National Geographic Channel in the Asia-Pacific region in early 2003.

Two
From Galilee, was a musical drama in Broadway fashion with
a running time of 90 minutes over two acts. The production involved a cast of
11 principals and supporting cast and chorus of 14 and requiring 60 costumes
and a production crew of 25. The production was indeed the most ambitious staged
then and was held as a benefit concert for Malaysian CARE on the evenings of Sat
30 November 2002 and Sun 1 December 2002 at The First Baptist Church, Petaling
Jaya, Malaysia. The musical was very well received by the public and enjoyed
excellent press and media coverage including The Star, The Malay Mail, The New
Straits Times, The Sun, kakiseni.com, klue.com, Star Metro online, Radio 4 and
Red 104.9 FM. Playing to a packed house on both evenings, the production generated
net proceeds in excess of RM100,000 for Malaysian CARE. Celebrated Director and
Playwright Chin San Sooi was the Artistic Director for the musical and he added
a professional dimension to the overall production.

Find Us Faithful celebrated the life of
Lee Hong Kwang; with the consent of the Lee Family and the Trustees of The Lee Hong Kwang
Family Trust Fund. The musical was staged at Life Chapel, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia on Saturday
15th and Sunday 16th November 1997 and net proceeds of the production went to a trust fund
for the education of the Lee children. Lee Hong Kwang was no stranger, many of us then had
got to know him in our younger days and his life, personality was the very essence of a
godly man. Our paths crossed again in 1994 when Hong Kwang, in spite of his busy lecturing
and speaking schedule, took time off to serve as chairman for our benefit concert “In Heaven’s Eyes”
in aid of Dignity & Services. Hong Kwang subsequently commenced a long battle with cancer, a
battle which he fought bravely and extraordinarily. Through the pain and difficult months, he
was very alert, cheerful, ever mindful of the God’s love and grace for him and his family. The
many visitors who visited him especially those who were grappling for words, found themselves
very much encouraged and inspired by him.

Because He Lives was staged in December of 1995
at Trinity Methodist Church, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia; as a fund raising concert for the Seminari
Theoloji Malaysia Building Fund as they were planned to move from their premises in Petaling Jaya
which had been leased from St Francis Xavier Church to a new purpose built campus in Seremban.
Seminari Theoloji Malaysia was formed in 1979 as a joint Anglican, Evangelical Lutheran and
Methodist venture in theological education in Malaysia. The material for our production was
based largely on the musical "Alleluia the Praise Continues" an evergreen work and carried the
theme of being able to experience the difficulties in life with God's sustenance. Chew Mei Lee,
a legal counsel and cancer survivor shared her experiences as part of this theme and the musical
was a moving experience.

Celebrating the God of our Generation
There was only one performance of this musical which was staged to raise funds
in conjunction with a dinner concert for the Fellowship of Evangelical Students or FES.
The musical with a slightly larger group of 15 singers was held on Sunday 3rd November 1996
at the Tropicana Golf and Country Club. The FES is actively involved in a large number of
university and college campuses and seeks to help and provide students with services and
skills such as counselling, training, relationship building, planning and organization,
etc. Although the production went relatively smoothly and was well received, it was a
challenge performing in the banquet hall environment given the poor acoustics and lack
of logistical support. This taught us some valuable lessons for our future.

In Heaven's Eyes
was our second musical and was staged on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December 1994 at
Trinity Methodist Church Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. This was in response to a request by
Dignity and Services to stage a benefit concert to help them raise. The organisation
is an advocacy movement, speaking and acting on behalf and alongside children with
learning disabilities and who come from different cultural and religious backgrounds.
The chorus numbered 7 women and 6 men and gave a more than commendable performance. The
focus of the musical In Heaven's Eyes, reminds us of how our Creator looks at us just
as we are and how He intervenes and comes into our everyday human and ordinary conditions.

The Word
was the pioneer musical. Put together by a small group of music aficionados of just 6
sopranos, 3 altos, 2 tenors and 2 basses who had gathered together to make music and at
the same time raise some funds for an orang asli community in Perak to purchase a couple
of motorcycles. The musical was staged at Trinity Methodist Church, Petaling Jaya on
Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th December 1992 and was very well received and drew good
houses on both evenings. This paved the way for our successive musicals. The musical
is a Christmas classic with musical beauty with a spiritual and compelling content
which is rare to find. This was also our first experience in having to seek out corporate
support and sponsorships to finance a musical production.

"The role of the Christian musician
..is
not to use music
for the primary purpose of aesthetic gratification but to use music
as a means to lead the people in extra-musical experiences (worship, praise,
meditation, prayer, stewardship, consecration and evangelism). The church
building
is not primarily a concert hall but a house of worship. Other activities
legitimately transpire - including concerts - in the church, but the primary
purpose
is to worship God."
