FIND US FAITHFUL -  1997

Find Us Faithful

Show Information

Find Us Faithful celebrated the life of Lee Hong Kwang; with the consent of the Lee Family and the Trustees of The Lee Hong Kwang Family Trust Fund. The musical was staged at Life Chapel, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November 1997 and net proceeds of the production went to a trust fund for the education of the Lee children. Lee Hong Kwang was no stranger, many of us then had got to know him in our younger days and his life, personality was the very essence of a godly man. Our paths crossed again in 1994 when Hong Kwang, in spite of his busy lecturing and speaking schedule, took time off to serve as chairman for our benefit concert “In Heaven’s Eyes” in aid of Dignity & Services.

Hong Kwang subsequently commenced a long battle with cancer, a battle which he fought bravely and extraordinarily. Through the pain and difficult months, he was very alert, cheerful, ever mindful of the God’s love and grace for him and his family. The many visitors who visited him especially those who were grappling for words, found themselves very much encouraged and inspired by him.

A NOTE ON "FIND US FAITHFUL”

During the earlier part of this year, the essential fabric of “Find Us Faithful” already had some form and substance in terms of a theme and music scoring.  The vocal and instrumental arrangements were inspired and selected from the following releases: The Music Library Volume I which is a compilation of really great  musical numbers; Every Tongue Confess by Gary Driskell & Marty Hennis;  Light of a Million Mornings by Claire Cloninger, Mark Gersmehl and Mark Hayes; Two from Galilee by Robert Sterling and Karla Worley and some independent arrangements.

We had been praying as to the direction we would be led this year for our year end benefit concert and there were a couple of other alternative causes that were considered but in going through the theme of faithfulness we felt that it very strongly echoed and reflected the life of someone we knew.  It was in this spirit that we approached the Lee Family and the Trustees of The Lee Hong Kwang Family Trust Fund for their consent to stage tonight’s benefit concert.

Lee Hong Kwang was no stranger, many of us having heard him preach and minister the Word even during our very early days at young people’s fellowship meetings (this is telling indeed).  Hong Kwang’s life, personality and witness was the very essence of what a believer should be and it was easy to accept what he preached or said because he simply lived it himself. Our paths crossed again in 1994 when Hong Kwang, in spite of his busy schedule of speaking, lecturing and other engagements, took time off to serve as chairman for a benefit concert “In Heaven’s Eyes” for Dignity & Services.

Hong Kwang went Home in January of this year after a long battle with cancer, a battle which he fought bravely and extraordinarily.   Through the pain and those difficult hours, days, weeks and months, he remained very alert, cheerful and faithful to the Lord,  ever mindful of the Lord’s love and grace for him and his family.  We also remember visiting Hong Kwang and sharing a few of songs with him,  as he hummed along in praise to his Creator. The many visitors who came to visit him especially those who were grappling for words,  found themselves very much encouraged by him.

Join us this evening as we reflect and give thanks for the life, dedication and faithfulness of this dear brother and we pray that his witness and testimony will inspire and challenge us.
